SPECIAL

John William (1) CANVIN was a third generation CANVIN to work on the
canals as a boatman. C1900 he left the canals and was soon employed by Messrs
J Alfred Pratt, Builders Merchants, at their Chesham Depot. He onetime owned 5
cottages Nos 36, 38, 40, 42, 44 at White Hill, Chesham, Buckinghamshire and his
daughter Florence Eleanor (2) CANVIN, his brother Daniel Allan CANVIN, his son
George William CANVIN and the PEARCE family (Florence PEARCE married George William
CANVIN) were his tenants, these cottages were later demolished to widen White
Hill. He owned and lived in a terraced house No 62, Gladstone Road, Chesham, Buckinghamshire
which after his death was lived in by his daughter Anne CANVIN with her husband
James 'Jim' LAING.
